I have seen firsthand, a drastic change in Pune's food scene over the last few years. And, With a number of restaurants opening up almost everyday in the city, The real fight is to stand out from others in terms food, service, or ambiance, to survive the ongoing competition. And, While Food and Service comes right after, Ambiance and The Vibe of the place is the first thing that makes an appeal to us whenever we visit a restaurant. And, Since I have already seen the funky decors at places like Bar Stories, the cool props at places like The Sassy Spoon, the giant sitting and parking areas at places like The Cult- Terra, the happening vibes at places like Wicked China, the conveyor belts at places like Autobhan, and molecular Gastronomy at places like Pandora, I honestly don't think I have any major expectations left to see something really new or different in terms of what could be done with the Ambiance or the Concept of a place. And, It was so, until I heard about The Houz Affairs which is designed in a way to cater to the different moods, Can you believe it? The entire place is designed into various parts or sections, and each different section of the place is made to cater to each of our different moods. So, When I was recently invited for a tasting at The Houz Affairs, I couldn't be more excited to experience and find out more about it.
Located near Trump Towers in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, The Houz Affairs is truly a gigantic place with a huge parking area as well. And apart from their bar, open-roof sitting space, the lights and modern interiors that just adds to the ambiance and the overall vibe of the place, the entire place is actually so big that it can accommodate around 500 guests at once. But, The most interesting part is that the entire place is designed into different sections where each different section of the place is made to cater to each of our different moods. You can indulge in an exotic spread of multi-cuisine dishes at The Fine-Dining Al Fresco Area, You can kick back and enjoy a relaxed soirée at The Elevated Lounge, You can groove to the Live music at The Indoor Dance Floor, or You can enjoy the specially crafted cocktails or mocktails by the master bartenders at The Social Bar. Now, While I can go on forever talking about the ambience and the vibe of the place, Let's also talk about food now, Shall we? Here are some of the amazing dishes that I got to try here:-
MOCKTAILS:-
The Social Bar at The Houz Affairs has got you covered in terms of all your drinking needs. You can order the drinks right from their long Bar Menu full of Wines, Beers, Gin, Vodkas, Single Malts, Tequilas, Whiskies, and more. Or, You can also ask the master bartenders to whip you up a specially crafted cocktail or a mocktail to enjoy. And, McQueen, Purple Martini, Love Story, Pine Passion and Tispy Kiran were some of the amazing mocktails, Bartender Sravan was kind enough to serve us to to give our evening just the perfect start.
ASIAN VEG APPETIZERS:-
Crispy Lotus (320 INR):- These were the crispy fried lotus chips flavoured with their tangy schezwan sauce.
NON-VEG APPETIZERS:-
Piri Piri Chicken Popcorn (350 INR):- This was the preparation of boneless chicken chunks, seasoned with ginger, garlic & chilli paste, deep fried, and flavoured with piri piri masala.
Chicken Peshawari (390 INR):- This was "the chef's special" preparation of chicken made with the addition of aromatic dry roasted ground spices. And, As clear as it should be from the fact that it is a Chef's Special, It is also the best from the lot we are talking about.
ASIAN MAIN COURSE:-
Thai Green Curry (Veg) (310 INR):- This fragrant dish has a delightful balance of sweet & spicy flavours with the crispy colourful veggies and the creamy coconut milk gravy, and is served with a portion of rice.
INDIAN CUISINE VEG:-
Subz Diwani Handi (340 INR):- This is a classic recipe filled with vegetables and flavours from spices. And, As the name suggests, Subz Diwani Handi is the mixed vegetables cooked together in a handi with onions, garlic, ginger and cashews. And, It goes well with A Naan or A Roti.
CONTINENTAL CUISINE NON-VEG:-
Grilled Chicken Lemon Chilli Thyme Sauce (410 INR):- Another Chef's special from the menu, This was (as the name suggests) the grilled chicken breast marinated with Lemon Chilli Thyme Sauce and was served with creamy mashed potatoes & sauteed veggies.
DESSERTS:-
Mango Cheesecake (290 INR):- Who doesn't like mangoes and who doesn't like cheesecakes? While, It took me a while to fall in love with the mangoes (please don't judge me for it), Cheesecakes to me have been "Love At First Sight" kind of a thing. And, Now I leave it upto you to decide why I don't think I need to explain why someone would simply just love a mango cheesecake.
The Houz Affairs is a perfect place to host parties, or events, or even come, sit and enjoy a nice dinner with your date, friends or family. No matter how big your crowd is or what your mood is, The Houz Affairs has got your back.
Thank You Sangeeta DG for extending the invite and Thank You Team The Houz Affairs for hosting us.
